Biography - Shara Evans
Shara Evans is the Founder and CEO of Market Clarity, a market research organisation specialising in the Australian telecommunications market. Market Clarity provides in-depth, high quality analysis of the telecommunications sector, giving providers, industry bodies and private sector clients a more detailed understanding of the forces that affect their business success.
Prior to establishing Market Clarity in January 2006, Shara was the Founder and Managing Director of Telsyte, a telecommunications research and strategy consultancy, from 1997-2005. In late 2002, Shara sold Telsyte to Gibson Quai Pty Ltd (now Gibson Quai - AAS Pty Ltd) a division of UXC Limited (ASX:USX). In December 2005, Shara left Telsyte to form Market Clarity.
Shara has been active in the telecommunications industry for over 20 years and has held a variety of executive positions with Alcatel, Sprint, Telenet, GTE and SmithKline prior to founding Telsyte in 1997.
Shara has a deep understanding of telecommunications technologies and services, and is an acknowledged expert in the area of convergence. She is also cited as one of the industry's leading futurists, fusing her engineering background with an intuitive understanding of how society is likely to respond to new technologies.
In addition to extensive corporate, government, vendor, carrier and service provider client work, she has published over 100 articles and research papers on these topics. She is frequently invited to give keynote speeches on a range of industry topics and technologies.
Shara is an active member of the Australian Telecommunications User Group (ATUG), the Communications Alliance (formerly known as ACIF and SPAN) and the University of Technology Sydney's Industry Advisory Network (UTS-IAN).
Shara is a graduate of Temple University (USA) with a B.A. in Political Science and has done postgraduate work in Computer Science at Villanova University (USA).
